n Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) activist said politicalparties here still could not handle criticism, despite it being a normal partof democracy. The statement was in response to certain politicians who were angeredby the ICW's latest 'graft-friendly politicians' list.
'These parties have failed to take valuable lessons from criticism issued by a public organization,' ICW researcher Donald Fariz said as reported by Antara news portal on Saturday.
He said the failure to respond to the public's demands was most evident in the way that these parties protected the troubled politicians.
'We have seen that 25 out of 36 politicians with poor commitment toward fighting graft, are in the top positions of many parties at the moment,' he said.
When asked whether the ICW had planned to issue another list, regarding the 'clean politicians', Donald said it could send the wrong message, making politicians think that the ICW was not an independent body.
