elecommunication giant PT Indosat Tbk, the holding company of internet and multimedia service provider PT Indosat Mega Media (IM2), has announced its intention to file an appeal against the corruption court verdict that found IM2 guilty of misusing internet frequency licenses.
'The appeal is pivotal because the verdict won't do any good for the whole telecommunication industry,' head of PT Indosat Tbk's regulatory group Risargati said onTuesday as quoted by Antara news agency.
She insisted that IM2 had violated no regulation, especially Government Regulation No.52/2000 that had been used by the graft court's panel of judges as reference to sentence the company.
IM2 was also ordered to pay Rp 1.358 trillion to compensate PT Indosat Tbk for misusing the broadband network.
Previously the same court had also sentenced former IM2 president director Indar Atmanto to four years in prison over the allegation of misusing the 3G/HSDPA broadband network services owned by
Indosat.(fan/dic)
