The Jakarta Police arrested a man identified as JM for allegedly robbing prostitutes after having sex with them.
'He has committed these acts for one year, robbing at least 16 female prostitutes in Jakarta, Bogor, Bandung and Yogyakarta,' said Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto on Tuesday.
Rikwanto said that JM would meet prostitutes through pimps and would offer an average payment of Rp 15 million (US$1,506) for each prostitute.
'To make a good impression on the prostitutes, JM always invited them to a presidential suite hotel room,' he said. 'After having sex, JM handcuffed his victims and took all their belongings such as cell phones and money.'
The city police's criminal investigation director, Sr. Comr. Slamet Riyanto, said that police officers nabbed JM at Grand Mercure Hotel in Central Jakarta on the evening of July 6.
'From JM, we confiscated 27 cell phones, six watches, five necklaces, five bracelets and cash amounting to Rp 112 million, HK$700, S$10,700 and $700,' he said.
