ationalPolice spokesman Insp. Gen. Ronny F Sompie said the police werebeefing up security in response to the recent Youtube video that featuredterror fugitive Santoso.
'The police's National Investigation Division and Densus 88 counterterrorism squad have coordinated with all related institutions. We suggest all citizens, particularly police officers, to stay vigilant,' he said on Wednesday.
Ronny added that they were still analyzing the video.
In the 6-minute video, Santoso urged all jihadists to keep fighting Densus 88 counterterrorism squad, calling the squad 'the real demon' who had slain, assaulted and jailed dozens of jihadists.
Ronny confirmed that the man in the video was indeed Santoso alias Abu Wardah, the leader of East Indonesia Mujahideen terror cell, who were held responsible for a number of violent attacks in conflict-prone Poso, Central Sulawesi.(dic)
