Supreme Court lashes out at Denny

T

he Supreme Court has warned Deputy Law and Human Rights Minister Denny Indrayana to not meddle with the ongoing Cebongan Prison raid trial at the Yogyakarta Military Court.

Head of the Law and Human Rights Bureau at the Supreme Court Ridwan Mansyur said that instead of commenting on the trial, Denny should focus on irregularities inside the penitentiary, which is under Denny'€™s jurisdiction.

'€œPak Denny should investigate how Nazaruddin could become a manager from within his prison cell. This is more important than interfering with the independence of our judges,'€ Ridwan said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Earlier this week, Denny expressed his concern that the trial could end up with the members of the Army'€™s Special Forces (Kopassus) being exonerated.

Twelve members from Group 2 of the Army'€™s Special Forces (Kopassus) in Kandang Menjangan, Sukoharjo, Central Java, are standing trial for allegedly shooting and killing four detainees at the prison in Sleman. Nine of the 12 defendants have been charged with premeditated murder.
