The PMI said that as many as 1,000 volunteers including doctors and nurses would be placed at the 200 first aid posts, which would be erected at public places like bus terminals, railway stations, ports and tourist attractions.
PMI head of social services and health division Arfan, said PMI would also operate around 50 ambulances in Java, Sumatra and Bali.
'All volunteers will be on standby,' Arfan said as quoted by tribunnews.com on Friday, adding that they had also received support from local government officials, local police and the military.
According to Arfan, the PMI will also hand out media kits to the travelers giving them safety instructions and tips during the annual exodus.
The Transportation Ministry recorded as many as 3,600 traffic accidents during 2012's Idul Fitri, where 638 people were reported dead. (hrl/dic)
