he Independent Journalist Alliance (AJI) has called on all media companies to pay Idul Fitri bonuses to their journalists, stringers and correspondents no later than seven days before Idul Fitri.
AJI issued the statement after learning that many media companies had not paid the Idul Fitri bonus to their journalists.
In a press release, AJI pointed out that the bonus was mandatory as stipulated in Manpower and Transmigration Minister Regulation No. 4/1994 on religious holiday bonuses for employees.
AJI said that those entitled to the bonus were workers who had been employed for more than three consecutive months. AJI also referred to Press Law No. 40/1999 that stipulates that media outlets must pay the bonus.
AJI has called on its 36 offices nationwide to monitor the implementation of the laws to make sure there were no violations.
