est Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Police have deployed 50 personnel from the Mobile Brigade'€™s (Brimob) bomb squad to guard several Buddhist temples in Lombok and Sumbawa islands following a bomb blast at Ekayana Vihara in Duri Kepa, West Jakarta, on Sunday.

'€œOverall, the situation in NTB is safe and conducive, but as a precautionary measure following Sunday'€™s blast in Jakarta, we are guarding temples in NTB, both in Lombok and Sumbawa, by deploying several Brimob personnel,'€ police spokesman Adj.Sr.Comr.Suryo Saputro told The Jakarta Post in Mataram on Monday.

He said the deployment of Brimob bomb squad personnel would ensure the safety of temples across the province.

'€œWe deployed Brimob personnel to guard the temples because they can defuse bombs. Moreover, personnel from other units are still focusing on strengthening security over the Idul Fitri holiday,'€ said Suryo, referring to a security operation called Ketupat Gatarin 2013 in Lombok and Sumbawa.

According to data from the NTB Religious Affairs Agency, the province has 12 Buddhist temples located in Lombok and Sumbawa. (ebf)
