he Jambi chapter of theAlliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) has criticized the slow progress ofthe local TV journalist shooting investigation process that seen a policeofficer as a main suspect.
Jambi AJI chief Syaipul Bakhori said that up to this date the police had only examined the officer over ethical violation and done nothing to start an open investigation on him.
'As we know, the police officer [First Brig. Dody Eriyansah ] had done at least two big mistakes, not protecting journalist while carrying duties as stipulated by the Press Law that even further caused him to get shot,' Syaipul said in a press statement made available to The Jakarta Post on Thursday.
He said AJI Jambi had also requested the local police conduct a reconstruction in order to find what had happened with the journalist.
'We have received a good signal from the police leaders here that there will be a reconstruction for this case. We are now asking him to fulfill his promise,' he said.
