he Yogyakarta Search andRescue team had managed to rescue a Russian climber who went missing for fourdays on Mount Merapi.
'The tourist has been found, safe and sound,' Yogyakarta Search and Rescue (SAR) team commander Brotoseno said on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.
He said the team, in cooperation with the locals, had started to intensify the search after hearing Ebrehnin Yevgeniy, the climber, screaming from the west part of Srimanganti.
'We were deploying two teams to track down the areas that he used to walk. At around 2 p.m. they could finally communicate with him,' he added.
Ebrehnin had taken the tour from Kinahrejo in Cangkringan, Sleman, Yogyakarta, at around 1 p.m. on Saturday, accompanied by his Indonesian friend, Ester. They then decided to come back but in the middle of their return, Ebrehnin told Ester that he wanted to go back and climb the mountain alone.
