nergyand Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik, who is a member of the DemocraticParty, said onThursday that he had no clue about the graft allegations leveledagainst Rudi Rubiandini, his former deputy at the ministry and head of theUpstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force.
'Well, that's life. We don't know anything about those things [related to Rudi's arrest]. Let law enforcers do their job,' he said in Jakarta.
Rudi was arrested at his house on Jl. Brawijaya VIII in South Jakarta on Tuesday evening by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators. The antigraft agency declared him a bribery suspect on Wednesday.
Jero said the government had appointed Johanes Widjonarko, currently SKKMigas deputy chief, as the acting chief of the energy regulator in Rudi's absence.
'The oil and gas sector is important to the government for it contributes Rp 1 trillion in revenue per day and thus the regulator must continue its job,' said Jero. (dic)
