he Jambi Immigration Officeis pursuing four illegal immigrants from the Middle Eastwho escaped its detention center a few days ago, a local official has said.

'€œWe are still pursuing these immigrants,'€ Jambi Immigration Office head Marsudi Rasyid said without elaborating on Monday.

He guaranteed that running away from the detention center would not make their days brighter because the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) had refused to provide any assistance to the runaway immigrants.

'€œTherefore we strongly encourage them to surrender,'€ he said.

Separately, Jambi Police general crimes head Adj. Sr. Comr. Yohanes Herry said the dossiers had been had completed on two illegal immigrant smugglers by the names of Asridai and Herlis. The two are thought to be responsible for the smuggling attempt of illegal immigrants from Afghanistan last month.

'€œWe are optimistic that the suspects will face trial soon,'€ he said.(dic)
