strong>Corruption Eradication Commission(KPK) investigators have named Futures Exchange Supervisory Board (Bappebti) chief Syahrul R Sempurnajaya asuspect in a bribery case.

'€œThe suspect [Syahrul R Sempurnajaya] has been accused of violating Law No.31/1999 on Corruption Eradication,'€ commission spokesman Johan Budi said in Jakarta on Friday as quoted by Tribunnews.com.

The case centers on allegations that Sentot Susilo, director of the trading company PT Gerindo Perkasa owned by Syahrul, allegedly gave bribe money to Bogor Legislative Council speaker Iyus Djuher through Usep Jumeno and Listo Wely Sabu, both local administration employees, to secure a certificate for a 100-hectare plot in Tanjung Sari to build a luxury cemetery.

On April 17 Iyus was arrested during a two-day operation which also saw the arrest of Sentot, Usep, Wely and Nana Supriatna, a middleman, all of whom had earlier been named suspects.

Iyus was accused of abusing his power to influence the Bogor regent to issue the permit for the cemetery.(dic)
