Alamsyah was rushed to the nearest hospital to receive treatment.
The victim is a lawmaker candidate for the West Sulawesi Provincial legislative Council on an Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) ticket.
The debt collector, who turned out to be a member of the police's elite squad the Mobile Brigade (Brimob), was identified as Second Insp. Siswanto, fled from the scene after the altercation.
Alamsyah said he would file a report with the police about the incident. (hrl/dic)
