man ploughed his car into the fountain in the middle of the Hotel Indonesia (HI) traffic circle, Central Jakarta, on Saturday. Police suspect he may have been driving under the influence of alcohol.
Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said that the driver, Samuel Judi Saputra, 25, lost control of the car while driving down Jl. MH Thamrin.
'He crashed into the sidewalks and plunged into the pool,' Rikwanto told The Jakarta Post on Saturday.
Rikwanto added that Samuel suffered minor injuries and is now being questioned at the police headquarters.
'We have run a urine test but do not have the results yet,' Traffic Police law enforcement director Adj. Sr. Comr. Hindarsono said as quoted by kompas.com.
If proven, Samuel faces three months in jail for breaching Article 283 of the 2009 Traffic Law.
