ome Minister Gamawan Fauzi said he would report graft convict MuhammadNazaruddin to the Jakarta Police for accusing him of receiving a bribe from an electroniccitizen ID procurement project.

'€œI will file the report tomorrow,'€ Gamawan said as quoted by Tribunnews.com on Thursday.

Nazaruddin, who was formerly a member of the House of Representatives (DPR) budgetary committee, said that the bribe was paid to Gamawan through direct transfer, the ministry secretary-general and a number of officials from other ministerial offices.

The former Democratic Party politician also charge that one of Gamawan'€™s relatives received funds from the project.

Gamawan denied all the accusations saying, '€œI will ask the police to follow up my report thoroughly if Nazaruddin cannot prove his allegations.'€

The minister added that law enforcers should directly prosecute Nazaruddin as he also admitted to receiving bribe in relation to the electronic citizen ID procurement project.

The electronic citizen ID project, which cost the State RP 5.8 trillion (USD$527.8 million), was initiated in February 2011 as part of the government'€™s plan to establish a single citizen-identification number system nationwide.

The project, which aimed to issue 105 million ID cards by the end of 2012, has been marred by various corruption allegations and technical faults in its implementation. (hrl)
