E

ast Java gubernatorial candidate Khofifah Indar Parawansa said that shewould soon file a report with The Election Supervisory Committee (Bawaslu) regardingirregularities found during Thursday'€™s election that showed a temporary victoryfor the incumbent candidates.

'€œOur team is currently collecting more evidence. We will release the findings on Sept. 7,'€ Khofifah said on Friday as quoted by Tempo.co.

She claimed to have already acquired several pieces of evidence and reports from citizens during the election. Among them, she went on, was the fact that 6,000 eligible voters in Pasuruan regency were not invited to polling stations to cast their votes.

'€œRight now my team has already gathered 2,400 invitations that never reached the people'€™s houses. We will use them as evidence,'€ she said.

She also unveiled that in some regions, residents had also received a pack of instant noodles along with election invitations in order to vote for particular candidates.

She also said that there was a polling station in Madura that did not have any official in charge during the election. She added that three villages in a regency did not conduct the election, which left thousands of residents unable to cast their votes.

'€œWe will not disclose the name of the villages right now. The point is we already have the evidence,'€ she said.

As previously reported, the results of four separate quick counts showed that incumbents Soekarwo-Saifullah Yusuf (KarSa) had a commanding lead over Khofifah Indar Parawansa-Herman S Sumawiredja (Berkah).

According to Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC), KarSa led with 46.97 percent of the vote, followed by Berkah with 37.77 percent.(hrl/dic)
