ome Minister Gamawan Fauzi has reported graft convict Muhammad Nazaruddin, who accused him of rigging the procurement for the electronic identity card (E-KTP) scheme, to the Jakarta Police for defamation.
'I reported Nazaruddin because he insulted my character. I want this [case] to be legally processed,' Gamawan told reporters at Jakarta Police headquarters on Friday.
As previously reported, Nazaruddin, a former member of the House of Representatives' budgetary committee, said that Gamawan took kickbacks from the winner of the e-ID project. The money was allegedly paid to Gamawan via his ministry's secretary-general and a number of officials from other ministerial offices. Gamawan denied all the accusations and asked law enforcers to prosecute Nazaruddin as he had also admitted to receiving a bribe in relation to the E-KTP procurement.
'I don't know Nazaruddin or the tender winner,' he said.
