he Corruption Eradication Commission said that it had extended the detentionperiod of bribery suspect Rudi Rubiandini for another 40 days, which would takeeffect on Tuesday.
The suspended head of the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKKMigas) has been detained by the Antigraft Body since Aug.13.
KPK spokesman Priharsa Nugraha confirmed the extension. Rudi was interrogated again at the KPK's head quarter in South Jakarta on Tuesday, but refused to answer any questions from journalists when he arrived, Tempo.co reported.
The bribery allegations first emerged when Rudi was arrested by the KPK at his house in South Jakarta in a sting operation along with his golf instructor Deviardi aka Ardi and Simon Gunawan Tanjaya, an executive with the Singapore-based oil trading firm Kernel Oil.
Rudi, who was a Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) professor, was caught in the act of accepting US$700,000 in bribes from Simon through Deviardi.
In relation to that case, the KPK imposed a travel ban for the secretary-general of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministr, Waryono Karno, after the commission found US$200,000 during a raid at his office the day after Rudi's arrest. (hrl)
