n the lead up to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in early October, security measures across Bali, including in Buleleng regency, have been beefed up in anticipation of possible disturbances.
There are 13 vulnerable spots identified in Buleleng, stretching as far as 145 kilometers along the coastline from Teluk Terima Bay to Tejakula village.
Kadek Mustiada, chief of Buleleng Water Police, said that the focus of tight security monitoring would be at Celukan Bawang Port, Pegametan, Gondol and Sangsit traditional fishing ports.
Celukan Bawang precinct, together with Celukan Bawang Port's management (KKOP), conducted a joint operation to secure areas in Celukan Bawang, as well as at the port where several cargo ships were docked.
During the joint operation, I Dewa Adi Kumarajaya, general manager of PT Pelindo III Celukan Bawang, and I Nengah Swendra, chief of KKOP, accompanied chief of Celukan Bawang Police Adj. Com Burhanudin.
The operation continued with the monitoring and checking of all cargo ships in the port, including the ship MV Isa Winter from Jakarta.
In Sangsit traditional fishing port, the joint operation team also inspected the cargo of a vessel from Madura but found nothing suspicious. They only returned a man who was not carrying his identity card.
'Tight security measures will be applied 24-hours every day to prevent any intruders from entering the island via north Bali territory,' said Burhanudin.
