he Jakarta Military High Court has upheld a 45-day jail sentence for Army special staff member Brig. Gen. Bambang Hermanto for hitting and slapping a subordinate. The verdict, which was made public on the Supreme Court's official website on Thursday, said that Bambang was guilty of committing violence against the Army's cemetery division head, Maj. Sugiyono, on March 14, 2012.The incident occurred when Sugiyono presented Bambang with documents regarding military cemeteries in Jakarta. Bambang became furious when he realized that the data was incomplete."The defendant took off one of his red flip-flops and slapped Sugiyono's face several times with it until he fell to the ground. The defendant said 'get up' ['¦] and repeatedly punched the witness in the left eye," the verdict reads.Sugiyono was later hospitalized.During the trial, Bambang testified that the erroneous data was not the only reason he had lost his temper.
