UGM to help city improve its human resources

T

he Jakarta administration is cooperating with Yogyakarta-based Gadjah Mada University (UGM) to improve its human resources to tackle the city's healthcare, open green space provision, ground water crisis and waste management issues.

Jakarta Governor Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo told reporters after the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony at City Hall on Tuesday that he would like concrete cooperation with the university, especially related to these issues.

Jokowi said UGM would provide training and expertise to help the city speed up and improve its program implementation in those fields.

UGM rector Pratikno said the university would also take part in the program to replenish depleting groundwater in the capital.

'€œWe're planning to inject water into the ground that have been exploited,'€ he said, adding the plan could lessen the risk of land subsidence.
