orruptionEradication Commission (KPK) investigators have arrested Tubagus Chaeri Wardana, alsoknown as Tubagus Wawan, the sibling of BantenGovernor Ratu Atut Choisiyah and husband of South Tangerang Mayor Airin Rachmy Diany in connection with briberyallegations.

According to the KPK, Wawan'€™s arrest represented a follow up to a previous arrest that saw Constitutional Court Chief Justice Akil Mochtar also become a suspect. Wawan is suspected to have given Rp 1 billion in bribe money to Akil in return for the latter'€™s support on the Lebak regency elections lawsuit, tempo.co reported.

Besides Wawan, the KPK has also arrested a lawyer, identified as Susi Tur Andayani, who is believed to have been an accomplice of Wawan.

According to reports, once in the knowledge her husband had been arrested by the KPK, Airin, who is currently studying at Harvard University in the US, immediately flew home to see her husband.

In relation to Wawan'€™s arrest, the KPK has also requested the Immigration Directorate General prevent Ratu Atut from leaving the country for the next six months. KPK spokesman Johan Budi said the measure was related to the Lebak Regency case.

He added that the KPK would summon Ratu Atut in immediate future as a witness in the case.(dic)
