The latest KPK report recorded that there has been a significant increase in the number of graft report received from these four regions. North Sumatra ranked first with 5,207 graft reports, followed by West Java with 4,725 reports and the third place was secured by South Sumatra with 2,706 reports and Riau was on the fourth with 1,787 reports.
KPK deputy chief Zulkarnain said most of the crimes were in the form of mark ups in goods procurement process, bribery and budget misappropriation.
'The trend is up. Right now, graft indications are spotted in every level in every institution. This is off course worrying,' he said on the sidelines of a graft prevention seminar in Riau on Tuesday.
Therefore, he went continued, right now the KPK was pushing every institution, including in the region to apply stricter supervision. He also asked other stakeholders like NGOs to help supervise the daily operations of the government.(dic)
