he organizing committee of the APEC's Summit has barrednine journalists from Hong Kong from covering the meetings after theyquestioned Philippine President Benigno Aquino III concerning the killing ofHong Kong tourists in Manila three years ago.
Gatot S. Dewa Broto, spokesman for the Communication and Information Ministry, which organized the media facilities, said the organizer had revoked the journalists' press credentials for all APEC events.
'We have explained the situation to representatives for the Hong Kong journalists,' he added.
The incident took place on Sunday, when the reporters from Hong Kong television and radio stations asked Aquino about his refusal to apologize for the killing of the Hong Kong tourists in Manila.
The journalists reportedly shouted at the President, asking if he would meet Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying to discuss the killings. Aquino did not reply. Officials from the organizing committee then confronted the reporters and accused them of ambushing and embarrassing the Philippine president.
Eight Hong Kong tourists and their guide were killed on a tourist bus by a dismissed Manila police officer in a daylong hostage crisis in 2010 that ended in a botched police rescue attempt.
