T

he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has extendedthe detention period of Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P)politician Izedrik Emir Moeis for the second time.

KPK spokesperson Johan Budi said on Tuesday that Emir would remain in custody for the next 30 days.

Emir, who is being held at the Guntur Military Police detention center, had visited the KPK'€™s headquarters in Kuningan, South Jakarta, to sign the detention letter.

Emir, who used to be the chairman of the House of Representatives Commission XI on finance, was charged last year for having allegedly received a kickback of US$300,000 from PT Alstom Indonesia for allowing it to win the tender for a steam power plant construction project in Tarahan, Lampung, in 2004.

In addition to the cash, the firm was also reported to have entertained Emir in Paris, France, providing him with free accommodation and other amenities, including visits to adult entertainment spots.

Emir also allegedly spent money he received from Alstom on a shopping spree in Paris.
