he Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has dismissed Chairun Nisa from her position as the organization's treasurer.
MUI chairman Amidhan said that Chairun had been forced to step down because she was currently implicated in a high-profile bribery case.
'She has officially been suspended,' Amidhan said as quoted by tempo.co.
Chairun was arrested on Oct. 2 by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators for allegedly paying a bribe to former Constitutional Court chief justice Akil Mochtar.
Chairun is now being detained by the KPK.
