The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained former youth and sports minister Andi Mallarangeng for his alleged involvement in the Hambalang sports complex graft scandal.
"He [Andi] has been detained for investigative purposes," KPK spokesman Johan Budi said as quoted by kompas.com on Thursday.
Andi was arrested after being declared a suspect by the KPK almost a year ago.
In the Hambalang case, Andi is alleged to have misused his authority as a minister, resulting in state losses of Rp 463.6 billion (US$40.8 million).
Andi began his career as a lecturer and an activist before becoming a politician with the ruling Democratic Party. Andi was also President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's spokesman before his appointment as a minister.
