'Until this moment, Rusli is still active as a governor and runs the administration from behind bars. This is so embarrassing watching government officials go back and forth to the prison to consult on provincial issues with the governor,' said activist Dwiki Zulkarnain. 'What's going on here? We should not let a corrupt individual run the province,' he added.
Responding to the protest, Riau Law Bureau head Sudarman said Rusli could be in charge of running the province as he had yet to be convicted in court.
