Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) called on the House of Representatives to make an assessment of the performance of outgoing National Police chief Gen. Timur Pradopo before naming his successor.

IPW chair Neta S. Pane said on Tuesday that the House'€™s Commission III, overseeing law and human rights, needed to evaluate Timur'€™s success in fulfilling all the promises he made three years ago when he underwent the fit-and-proper test for his current post.

Career management is going well in the police. Some are even branching out into aspects of forestry, where low-ranked police assist their superiors in harvesting timber.

One can only marvel at their entrepreneurial spirit. So, far be it from any of us to cast aspersions on these hard-working upholders of law and order.
