Chief of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Lt. Gen. Marciano Norman denied on Saturday an allegation that his agents had held former ruling Democratic Party (PD) chairman Subur Budhisantoso captive.
Many have accused the agency of 'kidnapping' Subur to prevent him from speaking in a seminar organized by loyalists of another former party chairman, Anas Urbaningrum.
Supporters of Anas first made the accusation.
Your comments:
There is something wrong with BIN. This service does not act transparently and it has been implicated in grave violations of human rights throughout its existence.
The very existence of such an organization is incompatible with the democratic values that a modern Indonesian state wishes to espouse. Once BIN has been dissolved and replaced by something more transparent, its former chiefs should be put on trial.

BIN is an intelligence agency. As such it is supposed to be 'secret'. Having an intelligence service that is 'transparent' is as much use as a chocolate teapot sir!
