hileother provinces celebrate their anniversaries with lots of funfair, thecountry'€™s youngest province, North Kalimantan,will celebrate its first anniversary modestly.

Only one festival will be organized, the North Kalimantan Art Festival, at Agathis Square from Nov. 1-8. It will feature traditional dances and other art performances.

The head of Indonesian National Youth Committee (KNPI) Bulungan, the organizer, Alwan Saputra said the festival would be a celebration of the establishment of the nation'€™s youngest province.

North Kalimantan province was established on Oct. 25, 2012. It is temporarily led by East Kalimantan provincial secretary Irianto Lambrie. The capital is in Tanjung Selor, located in Bulungan regency. The province measures 73,000 square kilometers and has a 700,000 population.

North Kalimantan has one township, Tarakan, and four regencies: Bulungan, Tanah Tidung, Malinau and Nunukan.(dic)
