Agency to distribute firefighting equipment

he Jakarta Fire Department will distribute 90 fireextinguishers and a number of bicycles equipped with firefighting devices to 56fire-prone areas across the capital in December.
The fire extinguisher procurement is currently being tendered and is expected to be completed in November.
'We will distribute the extinguishers to fire-prone neighborhoods that can't be accessed by fire trucks,' fire department head Subejo said on Tuesday at City Hall.
He added that each neighborhood may get more than one extinguisher. 'It depends on each area's density,' he said.
The department will train residents on how to use the pumps and bicycles, as well as maintain them. 'They will have to maintain the extinguishers and bicycles themselves,' he said.
The department has allocated Rp 804 billion (US$72.36 million) this year for the procurement of firefighting equipment.
