Cop to face dismissal following leaked nude '€˜selfie'€™

A

female police officer in Lampung identified as Brig. RS is facing possible dismissal after her naked '€œselfie'€, a self-portrait photograph, was found on the Internet.

Lampung Police spokesperson Adj. Sr. Comr. Sulistyaningsih said RS could be dismissed for tarnishing the good image of the corps.

'€œWe are investigating why she made such a reckless decision,'€ she said on Tuesday.

Copies of RS'€™s selfie began circulating on popular social networking site Facebook late on Sunday.

In the photo, the naked woman is seen photographing herself in a mirror using a smartphone.

In other pictures, which surfaced online soon after, a police uniform could be seen in the background, fueling suspicion that the woman in the pictures was RS.

After learning about the pictures, the Lampung Police on Monday suspended RS from her position as personal secretary to Lampung Police chief Brig. Gen. Heru Winarko.

Heru said that investigators from the Lampung Police'€™s Internal Affairs division had launched a probe to verify the authenticity of the photos.

'€œWe just found out about [the pictures] yesterday. Our internal affairs division [Propam] is handling the case,'€ he said after the handover ceremony of the National Police chief from Gen. Timur Pradopo to Insp. Gen. Sutarman in Depok, West Java, on Tuesday.

Heru confirmed that RS had served as personal secretary to the Lampung Police chief for five years, before the current chief took office in 2012.

'€œIt is something that she should not have done. We will crack down on all violations,'€ he added.

National Police spokesperson Insp. Gen. Ronny F. Sompie said that the Lampung Police had questioned RS on Tuesday morning.

Late on Tuesday, Sulistyaningsih confirmed the police had arrested RS'€™ former boyfriend for allegedly uploading the private pictures on Facebook.

'€œDuring the interrogation, the suspect claimed he was a police officer. It was a lie,'€ she said. '€œWe will explain all the details tomorrow in Lampung. Please be patient,'€ she said.

She said that RS would still face disciplinary sanctions although she was not responsible for spreading the pictures.

In recent months, the Lampung Police have been rocked by scandals.

In September, investigators from the National Police arrested Lampung Police supervisory inspector Sr. Comr. Suyono while taking crystal methamphetamine, locally known as shabu-shabu, with a woman in a hotel room in Bandar Lampung.

After days of investigation, the National Police decided to rotate Suyono to the force'€™s headquarters service (Yanma) division in Jakarta. Bengkulu Police supervisory inspector Sr. Comr. Budi Sutanto has been tapped to replace Suyono.
