Book fanfare to kick off on Saturday

B

ook lovers, prepare your wallets as the 33rdIndonesia Book Fair will be held at Istora Senayan, South Jakarta, from Nov. 2until Nov. 10.

Eka Santi, coordinating secretary for the Association of Indonesian Publishers (IKAPI), said the book fair would feature some 80 participants, including publishers and libraries from other provinces such as South Kalimantan and North Sumatra.

'€œOur target this year is to attract 200,000 visitors. The target is approximately the same as last year,'€ she told The Jakarta Post over the phone on Friday.

Besides hunting for new and vintage books, visitors can also join sideline events such as costume play (cosplay) and traditional dancing competitions. Eka said the Higher Education Ministry of Saudi Arabia and the Frankfurt Book Fair would take part in the event for the first time this year.

'€œThe participation of the Frankfurt Book Fair is meaningful for us because we will be the guest of honor at their fair in Germany in 2015,'€ she said.
