Sex education canât be generalized from a western point of view and applied to religious society in Indonesia
ex education can't be generalized from a western point of view and applied to religious society in Indonesia.
The success of sex education in western countries is due to it educating people about performing the act of sex safely.
However, this is not an option for the people of Indonesia or for the inhabitants of Jakarta, especially for those who still retain religious values.
To me, moral teachings are very important but an improvement in effective teaching is a must. In religious society, it is very important to avoid sex outside of marriage.
That is the key and to be more effective, the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases will always haunt those practicing free sex, regardless of any precautions employed.
Maintaining a good and healthy relationship between a couple (a boyfriend and girlfriend from an Indonesian point of view) is very important and parental guidance is essential.
Such perceptions of healthy relations are completely different to western practices. In Indonesia, the definition of having a boyfriend and girlfriend is rather different from westerners.
In western society, sex outside marriage is commonly practiced as long as sexually transmitted diseases can be prevented, but this leads to a high rate of abortions and lead to single parent families.
There is an imbalance in society. It is naive to think this could be implemented directly in Indonesia.
