he Jakarta Police have arrested six suspects allegedlyinvolved in a carjacking on Oct. 30, during which a taxi driver was injured inCentral Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java.
Tarmidi, the taxi driver, transported three of the suspects ' ER, H and T ' to Bandung, West Java, from Jakarta in a rental car.
'ER said he wanted to pick up his sick wife in Bandung and needed a car bigger than taxi, so I borrowed a Toyota Kijang Innova minivan from a neighbor,' said Tarmidi on Wednesday.
In Cikarang, the suspects instructed him to exit the toll road, said Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto. They beat and handcuffed Tarmidi before dumping him in a 5-meter deep ditch near Sadang, West Java.
'Tarmidi climbed out of the ditch with his hands tied and asked residents for help,' Rikwanto said.
The police arrested three suspects and two middlemen on Nov. 4 in different places, Rikwanto said. The police found the car and seized eight license plates, one of which belonged to the stolen Innova.
