Your letters: Thumbs up for pro-pluralism content

I

refer to The Jakarta Post from Oct. 30, which published three stereotype-breaking features. The topics you had chosen, Syrian Christians, gay Lebanese and Ultra-Orthodox singers in Israel, were real eye-openers for me.

I have also found similar content in different pages and editions that has also been helpful.

Stereotypes are mostly made by media. Therefore, to me, providing such content as I talk about above is very important. Especially when so much violence in the name of religion has occurred in this country and people'€™s interactions often depend on just social stigma.

While some news sources promote prejudice in their content, the Post takes up a healing role for my fragile ethnocentrism. Therefore, I give my deepest appreciation to the Post.

I am a new reader, since a half-year ago. From reading your pluralistic coverage of different traditions, I have officially become your supporter.

I hope similar features will be published more often. Thinking of all the diverse ethnic groups in Indonesia, it will be great if the Post writes about them too.
