A new public opinion poll released on Sunday named popular Jakarta Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo the candidate to beat in the 2014 presidential election.
The survey, conducted by the Jakarta-based think-tank the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) shows that if a presidential election took place today, Jokowi would garner three times more votes than Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party chief patron Lt. Gen. (ret.) Prabowo Subianto, who until earlier this year remained a favorite among voters.
Your comments:
Governor Joko may be a likable fellow, but is he competent enough to lead of our complex country?

Jokowi leads the pack but what has he done for Jakarta other than having benches installed along on Jl. Sudirman and Jl. Thamrin,, on which people nap. Now he already wants to change those benches. How will he run the country?

Why should Indonesia have a young, bright, honest, charitable, competent, conscientious tolerant president when we can have many more of the same old politicians who have honed and nursed their intolerance, anti-democratic, corruption and incompetence for year upon year?
Let's not stop the criminal gravy-train that is bringing so much wealth and happiness to the Indonesian elites.
