he Gorontalo city AIDS Prevention Commission (KPA) says that condom use among residents to prevent sexually transmitted diseases (STD) is quite high.
Gorontalo KPA secretary Yana Suleman said an average of 720 packets of condoms, provided by KPA for free, were used every month.
Every month, Gorontalo KPA provides at least 1,000 condoms to prevent STDs. According to Yana, the figure could double, especially during holidays or in the run-up New Year's Day.
However, he added, campaigns on condom use had not been carried out openly for fear of upsetting local residents.
Gorontalo KPA is also extensively carrying out campaigns on the danger and spread of HIV/AIDS among students and religious leaders.
