he Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) has lambasted six TV stations for their excessive coverage of certain political parties.
The commission said that it had summoned and reprimanded the six TV stations: RCTI, MNC TV, Global TV, ANTV, TVone and Metro TV.
'Broadcasters should be impartial and balanced [in their reporting] for the sake of the public,' KPI chairman Judhariksawan said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
RCTI, MNC TV and Global TV are owned by Hary Tanoesoedibjo, the vice presidential candidate from the People's Conscience (Hanura) Party, ANTV and TVOne are linked to the Golkar Party's presidential candidate, Aburizal Bakrie, and Metro TV is owned by NasDem Party chairman Surya Paloh.
