Sabhara rapid response unit member at the CentralJava Police, Second Brig. Cakra, 21, has been charged for allegedly assaultingSemarang Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) member Aris Sujoko, 48.
Central Java's Semarang City Police chief Sr. Comr. Djihartono said on Friday that Cakra was being detained at the city police headquarters.
Aris was slashed with a machete and struck with blunt objects during the attack on Wednesday evening on Jl. Sidodadi, Dudak village in Mijen at around 8 p.m .
Aris told reporters he recognized the four assailants who assaulted him and that one of them was with the Sabhara police unit.
Besides being kicked and beaten, he was also slashed with a machete on his left arm and head. The attackers also pointed a gun at him and then pistol-whipped him across the head.
The attackers fled when patrolling officers with the Mijen Police arrived on the scene. They immediately rushed Aris to the Kariadi Hospital for treatment.
Sr. Comr. Djihartono said his men arrested Cakra on Thursday evening, adding that the suspect did not admit to using a sharp weapon or pistol during the attack. Djihartono said the police were still searching for the other perpetrators, believed to be civilians and ex-convicts.
