orruption EradicationCommission (KPK) chief Abraham Samad has announced that Banten Governor Ratu AtutChosiyah has been named a suspect in a graft case connected to allegations of bribery inthe Lebak regent election dispute.
'We have been able to gather more than two pieces of evidence that point to Atut's involvement in the graft case,' Abraham told reporters on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.
The decision, he went on, was made following a case expose held last week with the KPK investigators on this case. According to the KPK, Atut's involvement was in connection with her brother, Tubagus Chaeri Wardana, who is being charged for attempting to bribe former Constitutional Court chief justice Akil Mochtar to rule the Lebak regent election dispute in his favor.
He said Atut was accused of violating the Graft Law and the Criminal Code simultaneously and could face up to 15 years in prison and a maximum Rp 750 million in fines.
