he Jakarta Police will reconstruct houses that were destroyed during a raid on an alleged terrorist cell in Ciputat, South Tangerang, and provide psychological counseling for locals.
City police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said on Friday that there were two houses damaged in the shootings on Dec. 31.
'We will provide Rp 50 million [US$4,105] for each house for repairs,' he told reporters at the scene.
Jakarta Police psychology unit chief Sr. Comr. Arif Nurcahyo said that he and his team had been observing the residents to look for those who needed counseling.
'The counseling sessions will be provided for all ages,' he said.
Arif said that once he could estimate how many residents required counseling, he would deploy psychologists from the Jakarta Police and the Jakarta Psychologists Association (Himpsi Jakarta) to offer counseling sessions.
On New Year's eve, the National Police's Densus 88 counterterrorism unit gunned down six suspected terrorists and arrested a man.
Rikwanto said that the arrested man, Niwan, was released on the night of the raid as he had been proven innocent.
'He was just going to buy goods with one of the suspected terrorists,' said Rikwanto.
