The fruit-production center, managed by farming group Ngudi Raharjo, produced 3.5 tons of dragon fruit in December 2013. The farmers have experienced falling profits as the price of dragon fruit has declined due to freckles disease, which has affected both the quantity and quality of their harvests. Farmers are currently selling their produce to middlemen for between Rp 10,000 (US$0.82) and Rp 15,000 per kilogram, down from Rp 22,000 per kg the previous year. (JP/Ainur Rohmah)
