Kartika has effectively replaced Mirza Adityaswara, who has been installed as Bank Indonesia's second-in-command, since Monday, the agency said in a press statement.
Kartika previously served as president director of PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance (IIF).
IIF is a non-bank financial institution that receives support from the Indonesian government and international financial agencies, including the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The agency's board of commissioners previously appointed Robertus Bilitea as acting chairman to replace Mirza.
