Elephants damage plantations
in Jambi

A herd of elephants entered Tanjung Semalidu village in Tebo regency, damaging hundreds of hectares of rubber and oil palm plantations.

“This has gone on for around three weeks. The elephants have destroyed the young plants,” said Hamdan, a villager, on Thursday.

Tanjung Simalidu village head Julianto confirmed the account, saying that the wild elephants had damaged around 200 hectares of plantations. “Dozens of elephants also entered residential areas,” said Julianto.
