he West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Museum in Mataram is aimingto attract 100,000 visitors this year, almost three times higher than lastyear's figure.
To reach the target, the NTB administration has initiated a so-called Visit Museums 2014 program. Besides overhauling activities, efforts will also be made to enhance the museum's collections of historic relics and invite collectors to organize exhibitions.
'In 2013, we recorded around 35,000 visitors; this year, we aim to raise that number to 100,000 in line with Visit Museums 2014. We are optimistic we can reach the target by inviting tour agencies to include the museum in their tour packages,' NTB Museum curator Lalu Mohammad Faozal told The Jakarta Post on Saturday.
NTB Museum contains 7,380 historic artifacts in the form of geological, biological, ethnographical and archeological collections, as well as heraldic and ceramic collections. A cannon and anchor from the Dutch colonial era can also be seen in the museum's grounds.
