local unit of French energy giant, Total E&PIndonesie (TEPI), announced Monday that it had appointed Hardy Pramono as thenew TEPI president and general manager replacing Elisabeth Proust, who waspromoted to lead Total E&P Nigeria after serving a five-year term inIndonesia.
Hardy, who started his new tenure on Jan. 14, previously held the position of executive vice president of operations and East Kalimantan district manager in Balikpapan.
He was the first Indonesian to hold the highest position in the East Kalimantan District of TEPI. Now, he also is the first Indonesian to lead one of the largest Total SA's affiliates.
'The main priority is to restrain declining production in the Mahakam block,' Hardy said.
TEPI is currently managing mature fields at the block where, as a result of significant efforts deployed, gas production last year topped an average of 1.7 billion cubic feet per day or 11 percent above its target. The company's also surpassed its oil and condensate production target of 67,600 barrels per day.
The appointment of Hardy as TEPI's number one gave stronger base on the fact that 97 percent of employees in the multinational company are Indonesians. 'Thus, despite TEPI being a 100 percent owned affiliate of a multinational company, it is also eligible to be known as an Indonesian company,' he said.
Hardy graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 1981, majoring in physics engineering. He joined TEPI in 1983 as junior rotating mechanic. He also had oversees exposure when managing a Total production field in Tierra del Fuego district in Argentina.
TEPI also appointed two new senior executives: Phillippe Groueix as executive vice president operations and district manager for East Kalimantan district and Agus Suprijanto as deputy executive vice president of TEPI in Balikpapan.
