tate power firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), or Persero, is targeting an increased supply of gas to its electricity plants in 2014.
The company's head of fuel and gas division, Suryadi Mardjoeki, said the realized supply of gas to its power plants reached 410 trillion British thermal units (TBtu) or 1,135 billion British thermal units per day (BBtud) in 2013.
'This year, we are targeting 431 TBtu or 1,200 BBtud, up 5.7 percent from 2013,' he said in Jakarta on Tuesday, as quoted by Antara news agency.
According to official data, PLN's gas supply has been steadily increasing. In 2012, the supply of gas to the company's power plants reached only 365 TBtu, or 1,016 BBtud.
Suryadi said additional gas supply in 2014 would partly come from Peluang gas field in East Java, which is operated by Santos Indonesia.
'We hope we can get in between 15 and 25 million standard cubic feet per day (MMScfd) starting from April this year,' Suryadi said.
He added that gas from Peluang field would be supplied to steam and gas power plant (PLTGU) Grati in Pasuruan, East Java, operated by PLN.
He further said that other additional gas supplies would come from Gundih gas field with Pertamina EP, the upstream subsidiary of state-owned energy firm PT Pertamina, in Central Java, as the operator.
Gundih will supply 50 MMScfd to PLTGU Tambaklorok in Semarang, Central Java, starting in the beginning of February.
PLN is also hoping that, in 2014, the Semberah gas-fueled power station (PLTG) in East Kalimantan will get a gas supply of 10 MMScfd from Vico Indonesia.
'I cannot yet confirm the exact date but we do hope that it can be implemented this year,' said Suryadi.
Meanwhile the supply of gas from Kepodang gas field to PLTGU Tambaklorok has yet to take place in 2014.
Suryadi said the government had expected that the supply of gas from Kepodang to Tambaklorok could start in the end of 2014.
'But it will likely start in March 2015 or August 2015, at the latest,' said Suryadi. (ebf)
